Yes folks, Carp-O-Rama® is once again on the way! Join us on Saturday, June 10th for the greatest fly fishing tournament on the planet! Registration will be at 8am at the Fix Rd overlook (West River Parkway) on Grand Island and we should be fishing by 9am. Everyone is welcome! Here are the details on the competition - This is a fly-fishing only tournament and is confined exclusively to the waters you can wade from Grand Island. The first prize award is for longest carp. Once a Carp is landed the participant must cut a piece of tippet material the length of the fish. This piece of tippet material will be turned in at the end of the tournament to determine the winner. And no cheating! The Border patrol will be watching! We don’t want Trump to have to build another wall! RECOMMENDED GEAR - 7-9 wt. rods floating line and at least one spare leader, 8-12lb tippet, polarized glasses and a spool of extra tippet. As for flies, small crayfish flies, hex type nymphs, clouser swimming nymphs, damsel/dragon nymphs, merkins and woolly buggers are all good choices for flies. The water may still be chilly this time of year so waders are highly recommended for wading and tick protection for the state parks (Tick Island) areas. This is a serious note- there are LOTS of ticks on GI and participants should be aware and inspect themselves afterward (or use it as an excuse to have a "friend" help). Sun screen wouldn't hurt either and bring a good supply of water. More details to follow, so stay tuned!

Bringing the usual. My dog Keegan just came up positive for exposure to Lyme, most likely from ticks I brought home from Grand Island. This is no joke, I'm waiting for my own test since it is likely I was exposed myself. Holy aching joints,Batman!

That stinks John. For the longest time Grand Island Ticks were Lyme disease free. All things change. Hope you don't have it.

Great news Chuck!! I was thinking about this the other day. Saturday is a better choice than Sunday. I will supply some kind of eats as long as we are getting together somewhere afterwards.

Hey folkes! Carp-O-Rama is less than 2 weeks away. Conditions are looking good on the river. Hope you are all ready to catch some carp on the fly rod.
We are having the Award Ceremony and cookout in the same place as last year, corner of East river rd. and Ransom Rd. Look for the white tent on the front lawn (thanks GI Steve). We will be supplying dogs, but if you like, bring a side dish or desert to pass. The event will be a BYOB event. Also, let us know if you are coming so we can get a head count for the dogs!
Thanks, Charlie.

I'm Comin'! My Mom would be pissed if all you A-holes were on her lawn and I wasn't there...
Registration will be at 8am at the Fix Rd overlook (West River Parkway) on Grand Island and we should be fishing by 9am. Quickest way to get there is get off the 190 (on the island), second exit 18B (under the overpass) to Beaver Island (South Parkway). 4 th. side street along is Fix Rd. turn right and follow it to the end (West River Parkway)

Will be bringing big donut. Was out in one of the state parks Thursday, there were so many mosquitoes that despite being soaked in bug repellant I was bitten like I'd been attacked by piranhas. Saw some trail hikers who were running from them too, looked as if they didn't prepare for the attacks. No ticks seen, luckily I've been clear of Lyme myself, the dog went through the initial treatment, seems to be ok. I did see a lot of carp, going through the motions of spawning, so many there was a real problem with foul hooking them, carp fight hard enough but a big one foul hooked is really an experience.
