The Copper Killer is usually considered a fall pattern and is fished in smaller sizes at that time. It does, however, work well in larger sizes in the high waters of spring. This is a very popular pattern on the Miramichi river in New Brunswick. Hook: Up eye salmon hook. Tag: Copper wire and pale green floss. Tail: Rusty Pheasant fibers. Butt: Scarlet floss. Body: Flat copper tinsel. Rib: Oval copper tinsel or copper wire. Throat: Bright orange hackle. Wing: Red squirrel tail. Head: Red.
