The original muddler was invented by Don Gapen in 1937 and was used for brook trout fishing. It was only a matter of time before salmon fisherman began to use it. Now muddlers are very wide spread in the salmon world. This is probably the most popular version for Atlantic salmon. Hook: Up eye salmon hook Tail: Red hackle fibers Rib: Oval silver tinsel. Body: Black wool. Wing: Multi-colored flash material under black marabou. Head & Collar: Natural deer body hair spun and trimmed with a black spot on the top.
