This pattern was invented by Bob Boudreau of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The fly seems to be a cross between a spey fly and a shrimp fly with its heron hackle and tail of wound golden Pheasant. As the story goes Bob was drunk and tying by lantern light when he invented this fly. Since that time it has become a popular and successful fly in all kinds of conditions. Hook: Up eye salmon hook. Tag: Oval gold tinsel. Tail: Two golden pheasant body feathers wound and pulled back. Butt: Orange ostrich. Rib: Oval gold tinsel over entire body, gold holographic tinsel wound behind the gold over the orange wool. Body: Rear 2/3: flat copper tinsel; front 1/3: orange wool. Body hackle: Gray heron hackle over orange wool. Collar: Natural guinea. Wing: Teal or bronze mallard. Cheek: Jungle cock Head: Red with fine oval gold band at the base.
