This pattern comes from the late Roderick Haig-Brown of Vancouver Island, British Columbia and was invented some time in the 40's. Haig-Brown wrote many popular books on fly-fishing the northwest. And his books are still in high demand today. Hook: Up eye salmon hook. Tag: Orange floss Tail: Red dyed golden pheasant crest. Body: Flat gold tinsel. Wing: Two golden pheasant tippets back to back. Topping: Golden pheasant crest (optional). Hackle: Light orange Head: Black.
