This is the tube version of Michel Beaudin’s fly invented for fishing the York River. He is an ex-firefighter from Montreal. He first tied the fly in 1980 by combining some of the best colors for the rivers of the Gaspe. The fly was named “Pompier”, fireman in French, by another fly tier from Montreal, Paul LeBlanc. It has since become a popular pattern on all the Gaspe rivers and a top producer. Tube: Plastic (metal tubes are not legal in Quebec) Tag: Oval gold tinsel. Tail: Red golden pheasant body feather wound around the tube and swept back Body: Black flat braid. Rib: Oval gold tinsel. Body hackle: Black saddle hackle. Collar: Green. Wing: Yellow bucktail or polar bear hair over a few strands of green flash. Collar: Green hackle. Sides: Jungle Cock (optional) Head: Black or Red
