Mind you I'm not a pro but my experience has taught me that your tail is a bit to long which will = alot of short strikes. As far as your hackle, the wrapping looks to be on the right track & contrasting colors are good to use. my only advice on the hackle would be to brush out & seperate the feather barbs so they are more whispy (not clumped together) and thus will move more naturally in the water. You may also want to try using a counter rib of floss or Foil or something along those lines for a little more fish eye catching ability and also to help anchor in the hackle. Like I said I'm still learning myself & those things I mentioned have helped me catch more fish... The best overall advice I have gotten in regarding tying flys came from my Uncle when he told me to "tie when either inspiration strikes or your in the mood to do it so it's fun and stop to take a break when you start getting frustrated". I also find when making a fly from scratch (i.e not following a recipe) it helps to sketch out what you want the finished fly to look like & make a sort of step by step list of how to create it and the materials needed. Check out Nick P.'s tutorial on the "Woody Bugger" to see an example of better proportioning the tail length as well as his others on how to wrap hackle/schlappen and the correct sequence of steps. Good luck amigo & keep up the good work... there's no better feeling than landing a fish on a fly you made yourself Nick C.

I agree you should work the feather a little more to separate the fibers but that's not a huge deal. Easy fix.
Your tail is a little too long. As a general rule the tail should equal that of the hook shank length.
To add a further comment generally you want to end this fly with a collar wrap. If you look at how you have tied yours it is the chinele that shows up front. This should be where a few consecutive wraps of the hackle should be. Again, no big deal.
With that being said the fly is perfectly fishable and will catch fish. They tend to be less picky when it comes to the aesthetics of a fly.
Keep going man

For the collar i like to use duck flank feathers. they are a little more flexible and give the fly a good look.lokks good though
