doublenickel..you're in!! We had the last spot saved for you. You must have seen it coming! I'll repost the rules next week. If you know you can't make it to the shop for the swap, PM me & I'll send you my address. Then just mail me the flies in a self-addressed stamped pack, we'll make the swaps, & I'll mail yours back. More to come. Also, read any of dave19's posts for the winter steelhead swap. We're mirroring that swap without having to tie 12 flies. Good to hear that you're in..jj

Thanks for having me. I'll be at the shop for the swap. I'll likely do a variation of the Squidro. I know, I know... blasphemy; mostly synthetics. They sure do look sexy though.

doublenickel..tie away! I Googled the squidro & I can't wait to put that in my flybox & try it out. It looks like a killer! It looks like it would even adapt well to a tube fly. Have you had a chance to check out "brookiesrule's" post in the "Winter Fly Swap"? Click on the link and there are a couple of dynamite patterns, with slide show, on tying those patterns with synthetics. If those are called blasphemous, sign me up as a blasphemer, too. And the link also points out some distinct advantages. speypages.com/speyclave/showthrea....er+leg+intruderSeriously (and philosophically), to me, I'm just trying to tie something that will enable me to catch fish, without using live bait, by using materials, whether natural or synthetic, that can be tied onto a hook, and why limit myself to either natural or synthetic? What I tie can be an imitation of natural food or something that looks so wild that I don't know why a fish would take it, but it does! Besides that, how can you argue with sexy? see ya' at the swap & I'm glad you're thinking that way!!!..jj

justin....faaaaaaantastic!! Can't wait to see the "F - it" fly", or whatever else it is that you tied, but how about surprising all of us & not revealing it until the swap? Knowing you, it'll be something worth waiting for. After the swap, we'll post pics.
BTW, where the he77 do you get those avatars? A few are so-so, but most are pretty slick.
see ya' at the swap & tell Rick to get back to work....jj

FLY SWAPPERS....hey guys, the swap is EXACTLY one month from today. That's dave19's "Winter Steelhead" swap & JJ's "not good enough" swap
dave19: can you confirm this so I don't mess things up?
DATE: Saturday 12/3/2011 TIME: 4:00 PM PLACE: at OOFS # of FLIES: "Winter Steelhead" - tie 12 flies * "not good enough" - tie 6 flies
if you can't make it, you'll need to get your flies to dave & me in time to have to swap so we can trade yours for one of each of the others on the day of the swap. About a week in advance leaves some margin. if you want yours mailed back, get us a self-addressed stamped packet to mail. Just tell the Post Office that you want to prepay the package.
PM me for any mailing details. Some of the guys went out for pizza after the swap. If you don't have yours tied yet, tie one a day & you'll have plenty of time. I can't wait to trade some flies. I need some new s**t to look at and to hear some steelie stories, mostly about flies, lies, & fisherman. see ya' there..jj

nsn...bummer that you won't be there, but we'll have a toast (or two) to you for tying them up. As far as dispersing your share from the swap, that's very generous of you. thanks. Will do & consider it done...thanks again for the ties...jj
