we will see who catches what then won't we. it is a competition after all not much to update really we are meeting at the Fix rd overlook at 9 am for coffee and (John willing) Giant Donut or at least regular sized donuts. fish till 4 and then drink and BS. pretty much the same as it ever was. i'm working on the after party and i'll have that set by friday. the details on the competition- Everyone is welcome! designated as flyfishing only with flies and only the waters wadeable from Grand Island are fishable. bass is open as well but the 5 lb smallies just want you to lose the Grand Island NY CARP-O-RAMA 2013® so don't be distracted. the only award is for longest carp. if you ain't first, you lost. once a Carp is landed the participant must cut a piece of tippet material the length of the fish. know for certain we are watching for accuracy. the latest news on the NSA should be enough to convince you. each participant can then turn in one piece of tippet as their entry. RECOMMENDED GEAR- 7-9 wt rods floating line and at least one spare leader. 8-12lb tippet. polarized glasses. small crayfish flies, hex type nymphs, clouser swimming nymphs, damsel/dragon nymphs, merkins and buggers are all good choices for flies. the water will be chilly still so waders are highly recommended for wading and tick protection for the state parks (Tick Island) areas. this is a serious note- there are LOTS of ticks on GI and participants should be aware and inspect themselves afterward(or use it as an excuse to have a "friend" help). sun screen wouldn't hurt either and bring a good supply of water. exact details to follow but we will meet at 9 am on GI and be fishing by 10. this year i'm also requiring that participants be registered at the morning meeting. if you cannot make the meeting and still wish to participate then you may pre-register by sending me a PM here. no showing up late and winning, Ryan.

t-shirts? do we seem that organized? it's a great idea for sure and by the 10th annual we should have them.
OK updates are coming in fast today. we are having the after party/awards presentation at Will and Kelly T's again this year. they have graciously and last minute (i might add) offered us their backyard for the cook out. thank you Will and Kelly. i'll put up the addy as soon as i find it.
this also means we will need a few side dishes. Suzy and I will do potato salad and the fly shop will supply the burgers, dogs and fixins. if you want a steak that's fine, just bring one with you. if anyone else can bring a dish please post what you're doing here so we don't duplicate.
thanks folks!

Can't wait for the split-weiners and mico-brews. Perhaps this will be the year I hook up with a carp.
I definitely like Mike's idea of t-shirts, that would be real cool. Slogans Anyone?
